Leap and the net will appear. –John Burroughs
I encountered Burrough’s words in a group study of Julia Cameron’s The Artist Way many years ago at a time when my courage needed to be reignited. The art quilt, part of the reignited work, includes the bold moves of stitching tucks in a flat work and stuffing them into three dimensions. I also hung sheer cut out leaves to catch the air of passer-bys. This work is on loan to my daughter, who is a great leaper in her own right. This is the week I celebrate her birth. I don’t think the art is ever coming home to me.
About Call / Response: Quote-a-day calendars infuse my day with an unpredicted perspective. This year I will post weekly words of another person and my textile art. I want more time with the words and the image. I want to explore the interplay between words and image. Join the journey, which I have named Call / Response. I just might tell you which came first, words or image!
