An unexpected aspect of working for faith communities and on larger scale pieces is the need for custom fabric with large faith motifs or repeated motifs in colors appropriate for season and space. For over a decade I have been exploring printing by screens, stencils, and blocks using either paint or dye on a variety of fabrics. I now have an inventory of repeatable visual vocabulary. Studio cloth is an essential element to my signature style.
During the seclusion of the Covid pandemic, I began intentionally exploring the use of motifs developed for sacred work into work intended for a larger audience. Liturgy means “the work of the people” and some of the visual vocabulary is quite at home in new places.

Truly stunning, Norma. Each piece feels like a prayer. ❤️
